I really like the way the artists and researchers who worked on ‘Cunning Stunts’ touch each other in this photograph. I feel that their hands are indicating points of contact not only between different female bodies, but also different practices of knowledge creation – artistic and scientific. In the activities of TERAZ POLIŻ, these two areas often intermingle. As Marta Jalowska told me, every artistic process is a kind of cognitive practice for the members of the collective – a form of investigating our relationship with the world. However, the artists often feel the need to enlarge their artistic toolbox with the methods of scientific work, which is why they invite theatrologists, cultural scientists, philosophers, sociologists or sexologists to join them in their research.

This happened not only during the research for ‘Cunning Stunts’, but also, among others, on the projects called ‘Dziwy polskie’ and ‘Córy warszawskie’, in which TERAZ POLIŻ artists cooperated with the research team of the HyPaTia who are involved in writing and popularising the herstories of Polish theatre.
